Speeding... again

Guess who's had a second notification? It's timed 18 minutes after the first, which arrived three days ago. Basically I'm going to learn a very hard lesson about speeding on dual-carriageways and motorways. I learned my lesson when the first ticket arrived, so it does feel like a kick in the teeth (especially as the first notification was - somewhat perversely maybe - a welcome wake-up call). It's not as if I speed elsewhere anyway - I'm meticulous about doing 30, 40, 50 or 60mph in the relevant single-carriageway roads, but that excuse sounds hollow even to my ears.

There's still the return journey the next day, which I did on the same roads. By this rate I could be disqualified from driving - and all because I went the 'fast' way to Abergavenny instead of over the top like I normally do. Still, the perverse thing is that if I do accrue 12 points and end up disqualified, it appears the slate is wiped clean after six months, whereas these points will hang over my neck for the next 3-4 years. Still, now we're back to one car and following my slap on the wrists I can't see me speeding again! I'd even give up the car if I could, but when you travel on overcrowded, delayed trains you quickly learn that whatever your hopes for public transport, this country is in a poor state to act on them.

Oh well, now the anxious wait begins for notification number three... (Sigh)
