Depressing reading, but true nonetheless. There's a sad parallel with the idea of a runaway greenhouse effect and the runaway road to uber-capitalism we tread, and sadly I cannot see capitalism making way before it's too late. As Monbiot says, however hard we try to change our individual lives, the markets will make it impossible to have any real effect. But that does not mean I shall stop trying; it just means the government will never act to make a difference. Thank you Mr Blair, Mr Bush, Mr Howard and all the other world leaders with their heads in the sand.
