The first series of the new Doctor Who comes to an end 10 days from now. It's been amazing how popular it's been - it's consistently prominently featured in the Radio Times, the newspapers are consistently full of stories about it and the viewing figures are phenomenal. I've even reconciled myself to the fact there will be a new Doctor next year, and in fact I'm now impatient for it to happen.
I watched Doctor Who: A New Dimension, which was the documentary that preceded the first episode. Isn't hindsight a wonderful thing? It's narrated by none other than David Tennant, the new Doctor, and the extended shots from Casanova in the section that profiles Russell T Davies' credentials are basically a trailer for the new Doctor himself. And a very good one too.
In 10 days time we'll be shouting, "The Doctor is dead! Long live the Doctor!" Of course, technically the Doctor won't be dead, but give me a break. I'm not the nerd I used to be... (that's not to say I'm not a nerd, it's just that - oh, never mind!)
