Google Ads

If you happen to visit my Web site you'll see I've added Google ads to it. Hopefully they're not too intrusive, and this isn't some kind of desperate plea for you to click on one or two to provide me with an additional 2p of income or however much they pay per ad. I figure that it's something worth exploring (why get 2p per ad when one day I can try and pitch a two-page article to someone on using them to make money?) and if it provides a small amount of extra income, so much the better.

A couple of freelancers and I have been exploring ways of making money from our old copy, and one of the obvious ideas is to put it all online and place Google ads on each page. Then if someone sees an ad that's genuinely useful to them, they get a link and the author of the article that the ad appears on gets some extra cash.

If you'd like to explore this in conjunction with your own site, visit http://adsense.google.com. Feel free to ask me any questions - it's easy to incorporate into your own site (create an account, answer some questions online about the size and type of ad you'd like to host, then just copy and paste the HTML code into the appropriate area of your Web page). Google pays monthly for its ads if they earn a certain amount, but I doubt I'll be earning that much! It might generate enough revenue - after tax of course! - to pay for a day out in London, which would be nice...
