Down down, deeper and down...

... Blues pathetically struggled to a 1-1 home draw against West Bromich Albion at lunchtime. As a result we remain firmly rooted in the relegation zone.

What positives can we take from this lunchtime meeting between relegation-threatened rivals?
1. West Brom were incredibly unlucky not to score three or four times, thus beating us and practically condemning us to relegation.
2. Er, that's it.
3. Actually, there is another positive. This morning I managed to fix my laptop not once, but twice. The new power socket slipped out of its housing, forcing me to open it up completely. Thankfully, two pairs of pliers enabled me to squeeze it back firmly into place again. Then I managed to bend some pins in the socket that connects the laptop monitor to the motherboard, resulting in an incredibly dim picture due to the backlight not working. A ham-fisted attempt with screwdriver, pliers and eventually a small pair of scissors managed to force the pins back straight enough to fit properly. I don't have high hopes for their long-term life expectancy, though!

Anyway, where was I? Oh yes: relegation is now officially moving from extreme probability to almost-nailed-on certainty. We managed one shot on target all game - that was our penalty to open the scoring. They hit the woodwork once (possibly twice) and our keeper made some great saves and defenders cleared two off the line. Pennant got crocked, although to be fair we appeared to improve after he left the pitch. Not that it says much... The team were booed off at the end, and rightly so.

It's been six months since Steve Bruce should have felt the heat (never mind relieved of his duties), but no - when the horses have bolted, sent a postcard and settled down in new surroundings - he's still untouchable according to a fair proportion of our fanbase. Clearly sleepwalking into the Championship is acceptable to them.
