Once upon a time I rebelled against my fellow school mates instead of my parents. While they listened to indie music I preferred 50s and 60s rock and roll, and when I finally decided to start taking an interest in the music of my period I went down the heavy metal route. I grew my hair long - the embarrassing photos still exist, although there are some that don't look that bad - and listened to the rock bands of the day. One of these were Def Leppard and having stumbled on an old video on Kerrang! I've dug out my CD of their best-selling album Hysteria, which formed part of the soundtrack of my youth. The memories flood back and next year I'm going to have to come to terms with the fact the album is 20 years old. My past keeps knocking on the door of my mind - is this a sign that I'm finally getting old?
Note to self: copy the CD to your hard drive for on-demand listening in future...
Note to everyone else: please excuse this indulgence.
