Blues targeting the right players

Steve Bruce has made two good moves in the transfer market so far. Cameron Jerome has confirmed to a Welsh newspaper that he will definitely make the switch to Blues - so no eleventh hour hijacking there. Meanwhile, Blues have been linked with Neil Danns (see here) who plays for Colchester! Danns looked impressive in the four games we saw last season - he scored a brace in two of those against Bristol City and Hartlepool. The latter game was that which reignited Colchester's spluttering promotion charge and ultimately gave them the momentum to take second spot.

Danns was one of two Colchester players - the on-loan Mark Yeates being the other - whom I thought could make the step up to the Championship. He will ultimately be competing with Neil Kilkenny for that attacking midfield spot, so at least Bruce is targeting the right players. Now all his has to do is revamp his entire approach to fitness and tactics - fingers crossed the drop in level will give him the impetus to actually do it...
