Leave me your comments

I've long resisted the urge to let people leave their comments on my blog posts. Probably because I didn't think I'd get any (and probably still won't!), but also because I'm a tinpot dictator at heart and had no real desire to get embroiled in heated discussions about my political views - not because I think they're necessarily right (even though they are, he said, tongue-ever-so-slightly-in-cheek), but because - well, there's always Small Heath Alliance for that!

Like all good dictators, I'm not converting overnight to complete democracy. While I'm not limiting comments to register blogger users, I will be moderating all comments, so I will get to see them before they're published. Tempting though it is, I won't be filtering out those comments that disagree with my posts, but I will remove anything that gets too personal or is potentially libellous.

So the lid will be lifted on the few people who read this blog - has a pressure valve been let off and heated comments will follow, disputing the legality of the Iraq war, the state of the planet and whether or not we've planted the right crops in our allotment plot? Or - as I suspect - will things slumber on as they have done before?

I heard that you mowed dowm a pototo stem in its infancy albiet by the mistaken excuse that it was a weed. Are you fit to have an allotment? Should all potential allotment owners have to take an exam before being let loose on their plot?
