Isn't it strange...

that when a Foreign Secretary like Robin Cook or Jack Straw develops a backbone, a semblance of statesmanship if you will, then Blair gets rid of them?

Jack Straw has spoken out against the atrocities being committed by Israel in the Lebanon (see here) while his government prevaricates and allows a whole lot of new hate to build up in the region. When the next bombs hit British or US soil, let us hope people stop allowing blind hate and prejudice to cloud their judgement and start to understand that - however abhorrent terrorism is - there are always reasons behind it.

I agree mate, but would Jack have been so keen to put the boot in if he had not been recently sacked as Foreign Secretary? Not saying he's not right but if he were still at the FO,I bet his language would have been much more conciliatory and toeing the party line.

Much easier to say it when you're Leader of the House and nursing a grudge against the boss!
