Owen Hargreaves

One of the few English players to come out of the World Cup with any credit is Hargreaves. Born in Bolton, raised in Canada and plying his trade in Germany with Bayern Munich, Hargreaves has come in for a lot of stick (and I'm not entirely innocent myself). However, once he played 90 minutes in his correct position (defensive central midfielder) his qualities shined through.

However, in this paraphrased version courtesy of BlueDaveBCFC from the Small Heath Alliance forum (see here), I pronounce the English quote of the tournament thus:

Interviewer: "Does it bother you when people who don't really know your game criticise you?"
Hargreaves: "Not at all, and if I ever was bothered, I'd just go home and look at my box of trophies and medals, it's a very big box."
