Blues sunk again

The man's not for turning - or resigning at any rate. That's okay, because we only handed Norwich their first away victory with yet another abject performance last night. We are now 11 points off the top, six points off automatic promotion and in ninth spot. We're conclusively behind where we were when Trevor Francis was axed five years ago - 18 points from 12 matches compared to the 20 from 11 he'd accrued before getting the boot.

EDIT: this 20 points from 11 games is a fallacy. TF had 17 from 11, so Bruce was still marginally ahead of him on Saturday. But Blues drew their next game to move on to 18 points from 12 games, so we're now officially where we were five years ago. We won our next two matches too, which is something I can't see happening this time.

Even the most hardened pro-Bruce fanatics have turned. The man claimed he'd go if he lost the support of the fans, but clearly he's not going to do that. The question is, will the board now act? Or is his rumoured compensation figure too high? And who takes over? Quite frankly that last question is the least of our worries, because the way we're going under Bruce he'll relegate us again. Co-owner David Sullivan said in hindsight that relegation was probable last October - yet he didn't have the guts to remove the manager then. We most hope he's woken up and found his business sensibilities, because the board's blind loyalty to a man who lost the plot 18 months ago has put a huge question mark over their own competence.

While we're on the subject, who invited new Norwich boss Peter Grant to have a pop at Blues fans for wanting Bruce out? Rather than rabbit on here, I'll direct you to this excellent Blues blog (click here) where you can read what Grant said and why he's so out of order, courtesy of Aff.
