A local wildlife trust for local people

Finally joined the Essex Wildlife Trust yesterday after taking a trip to Abberton Reservoir. £27 a year for joint membership is excellent value - especially as local talks take place down the road at the Shrub End Community Centre. There's one on tonight, but I suspect it's a little too short notice for us. Sounds interesting though.

We went to Abberton because we've been stuck indoors (or in the workshop in Toni's case, or down the allotment in mine) too much recently. While we were at the trust we picked up two books for a fiver: 10 walks in the Colchester area, and 10 walks in the Sudbury area, which I'll pass on to dad (knowing my luck he's probably already got it). Hopefully these plus the various reserves in the local area will help us get out and about a bit more.

We're also going to sign up for the weekly Essex Wildlife Trust Lottery - £4 a month with loads of prizes, but I guess the important thing is to keep giving. Wouldn't mind winning a 2K weekly jackpot, or 5K monthly jackpot or even one of the two 10K annual jackpots, though...
