One year ago today...

... we were somewhere on the north section of the M25. Our sale had finally gone through an hour or so before, but although our purchase also completed, our sellers hadn't completed on their purchase. It was when we reached the junction for the A12 that we decided to carry on to Toni's parents, where we and the cats would spend the night, homeless.

I'd forgotten all about this, understandably so as the 19th is traditionally - and will continue to be - dad's birthday. Travelled up to Sudbury by public transport to deliver his present and the final batch of Christmas presents they're shipping across to Pembrokeshire. Only their cat Sam will be staying behind, and I'll be making regular visits to check she's okay. Took mum and dad out for lunch, and we all agreed that life here is much better than it was back in Wiltshire/Wales. Just travelling up on the train from Marks Tey to Sudbury is enough to make me realise just how lucky I am in with my life, work, family, friends and home.

Had a productive* meeting with my friend Joe yesterday where we planned world domination through our site (SupportPCs). Unfortunately I botched things up by getting stuck in traffic and trying an infamous Nick Peers ShortcutTM, with the net result being that Joe missed his train home by 10 seconds. Thankfully he was able to get home an hour late by changing at Ipswich, but next time we'll add another five minutes to the car journey... Apologies again, Joe!

Tomorrow night we'll be hopping on the train to London to see Madness in concert at Wembley Arena. It's a strange quirk that it's easier to get back to Colchester after a gig than to Toni's folks in Welling. Madness have a new album and single out in February - looking forward to it...

And finally, finished Christmas shopping on my way back. That leaves 371 days until Christmas 2008...
