Cooking

I've just cooked and eaten my first proper curry, courtesy of the Oxo book of food and cooking. Over the past few months I've weaned myself off sauces (specifically curry and bolognase) and have started to stretch my limbs with lasagne, American chicken pie and bacon and leek bake among other things. Okay, there's still a small measure of cheating going on - our Oxo stocks have jumped - but I'm surprising myself at how well my cooking is going. Tonight's curry knocked anything I've rustled up with the help of a jar for six - delicious!

It's a long way from the week of tuna and Sainsbury's instant mash I subsisted on when I started uni, or the tinned food I lived on for two years after that, or the shift to microwave meals after first moving to Bath, or the over-reliance on packaged food that only started to disappear finally when I went freelance...
