GW - Global Warming? - Bush
We can deal with climate change - or at least try to reduce its effects to give species (including our beloved humanity) a chance of surviving a few hundred years until greenhouse gas levels start to drop back. But we can't do that by pumping more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere while hoping some gigantic mirror in orbit or firing aluminium in the atmosphere will somehow mitigate those effects.
Our western lifestyle is based on an increasingly consumptive form of capitalism, and that is entirely at odds with what we must do to survive. Like it or not, but you can't continue to live the way you've lived. None of us can. The only solution is to reduce what each of us consume - that means thinking twice before everything from replacing your mobile phone after just six months to taking a bath instead of a shower, or even making do with washing from the sink.
Sounds crazy? I bet it does, but just wait until the temperature starts rising, and parts of Europe start becoming uninhabitable, and suddenly resources start dwindling, but more people want them. Start making changes to your lifestyle now, because you'll find it harder when it's forced on you later on...
