Tennis

Andy Murray is marching towards the top ten, but it may have escaped many's notice that his brother Jamie is making waves too on the doubles circuit. Jamie matched his brother's achievement in winning the San Jose Open, and then went two better by not only reaching the final in Memphis, but winning the title too. He's cracked the top 50 doubles rankings, and hopefully will give Great Britain greater depth in the Davis Cup in the next year or two by offering himself as the senior doubles partner.

Another record worth mentioning is Roger Federer, who has surpassed Jimmy Connors' record for being number one for the longest consecutive period (161 weeks). Roger is a fantastic player and ambassador for the sport, and I always feel churlish for feeling disappointed when he wins yet another title, because if there's one thing I hate in sport, it's a procession (and one look at the state of English football reveals why I probably get so frustrated, with the big four monopolising the Premiership - the top four positions in fact, the FA Cup and now it appears the Carling Cup too). Yet Roger is such a great player that I have to stop feeling this way. The irony is, the only player I see out there aside from Nadal challenging him is Andy Murray. MacEnroe believes he'll be top five by the time Wimbledon comes around, so hopefully they'll get to cross swords then if not before...
