That was the cost of the gearbox - a tidy little sum, but one thankfully that was pretty much bang on the estimate. I've managed to be a little clever with my funds and only divert £400 from the ISA (most of the rest is borrowed against my tax savings), so the initial dent isn't quite as big as I feared.

Perhaps I should have a sweepstake on which part will be the next to go wrong - that way I might earn the money required to fix it!
