Time to take positive steps...

An unlikely leader in the fight against global warming was revealed when Jacques Chirac called for an international organisation to police the world for environmental pollution (see here). Unsurprisingly the US, China, Russia and India all oppose this plan. Rather than slag them off, I call to their populations to start putting pressure on their governments to act a little more responsibly, otherwise when hell comes to you in a handcart don't come looking to me for sympathy.

Considering how celebrity-obsessed we've become, I was heartened to read news of a new celebrity-endorsed plan to use their fame and popularity to spearhead a new push to get people to push down their carbon emissions (see here). We all think of stars as being vacuous, shallow and unworthy on the one hand, then spend our lives obsessing over their every move and trying to copy them on the other. Hopefully this paradox will result in us slagging them off on the one hand for not living in the real world with their fame and fortune, while secretly trying to copy their lifestyle changes on the other...
