I wanted to talk about...

... starting to redecorate the hall with Crown paint (as it appears to be the most environmentally friendly of the options in Homebase yesterday), or tracking down the birth record of my great grandfather Henry Hirons. Then there was the superb episode of Doctor Who last night, a fabulous way to celebrate the 30th episode of the series' new run. Crumbs, I might even have considered moaning about predictable old Blues once again losing to a team in the bottom eight of the division (accounting for eight out of our ten league defeats this season).

But now, instead I'm reduced to spluttering about the big oil companies once again putting the block on any kind of environmentally friendly technology. Click here to discover yet another reason why the likes of Exxon-Mobil and co should be remembered with anything but fondness in the years to come. So much for consumer choice, eh? Hari is spot on when he points out how we have yet more proof that leaving these markets unregulated will be a disaster for mankind, never mind the rest of the planet. For those who think that money somehow equates to common sense, ask yourself why the planet - and even humanity - went so long without the need for it...
