Oh crap

2007 looks increasingly like being the year climate change hits home - and in a big way. The front page of today's Independent points out that all the signs are there for temperatures to hit 40 degrees Celsius this summer (see here). It's also running a story on how the most populous parts of Australia are now in the grip of a severe years-long drought. Australians are in the grip of the strictest water rationing ever imposed by its national government (see here).

I wanted to be wrong about this, but sadly it appears wishful thinking doesn't work against rational and rigorous scientific process. Let's hope humanity learns this painful lesson - if not, the sooner we're wiped out by our own selfish actions the better for the rest of life on this planet.
