Live Earth

I hope people don't use the pathetic argument that Live Earth is a hypocritical act in the amount of energy it will consume. Live Earth is about raising awareness in the world about the single biggest issue facing all of mankind, and if people stop finding excuses and start living more responsible lives the concert and subsequent global movement will save far more energy than it cost to produce in the first place.

One other thought on this point: I wonder how many people complained about Live Aid in a similar fashion? I'm sure people did, and while poverty and disaster continue to haunt Africa to this day, I'd like to think the people saved as a result of the monies raised in 1985 justified the "hypocrisy" of rich, first-world bands coming together for a record and a concert.

Remember Alan Cumming's advice - the best age to be is that where you realise you can't change the past, but you can change the future. Stop obsessing about what's lost, and start moving towards preserving this planet for your children and grandchildren. Otherwise start wearing contraceptives or have a vasectomy - because producing more humans without giving a damn about the world you leave them has to be one of the most hypocritical acts ever.
