Oh, the irony

Just one day one from my rant about the budget, and it appears even those limited measures will be slashed to "help the economy" (see here). It shows just how out of touch with reality we are when everything - including the very future of our species - comes second to the economy.

I was heartened to watch BBC Breakfast News this morning and discover that the era of cheap food is now allegedly over. In the past two years the price of grain has more than doubled, which leads to higher food bills. Of course, most people will bemoan the fact they have to pay more for their food, but perhaps it will lead to a reduction in the obscene amount of food we throw away on a weekly basis, which will ultimately save people money (which they can then use to pay off some of their debts).
