According to a survey, which cannot possibly be true, surely, one in four drivers aged 25 or under have driven while over the limit. Over 60 per cent of these - so around one in eight in total - are uninsured, untaxed and even unlicensed.

I won't bother ranting out the selfishness or immorality of it all, but I will point this out: as a society we are becoming more anarchical. The authorities seem powerless or unwilling to enforce good behaviour or respond to complaints (there's one month's worth of rubbish clogging up next door's front garden now), so people realise they can get away with more, and - rather than apply some measure of self-control - indulge themselves.

I am only 31, aren't I? I'm definitely in the Grumpy Old Men category...
