Nice to see that the weekend Blues finally win their first match in months my American Football team, the Philadelphia Eagles, lose their first match of the season. In fact, it was the first time they were selected for the NFL Double Header on Sunday evening on Sky Sports, so I was able to witness a performance that would have made Blues proud in recent weeks. An abject 27-3 loss to the impressive Pittsburgh Steelers may not look too bad when viewed overall (we're now 7-1 for the season), but it suggests that we'll come up short once again when we get towards the Superbowl towards the end of the year.
Still, after three Championship-game losses in a row (the equivalent of Blues losing in the FA Cup semi-final or - perhaps more realistically - the semi-finals of the play-offs), I should be well prepared for yet another disappointment. After all, what did I expect the day I picked the Eagles as the team to follow in 1984, only to subsequently discover - just like Blues - they'd never won much of significance in their entire history?
Still, at least the Jude Law-remake of Alfie was entertaining, no doubt helped by only a hazy recollection of the original. Bath's new Odeon multiplex was quite good too, aside from the prices! It's now cheaper to buy the DVD through a discount online shop than pay for two people to go to the cinema...
