It's Monday morning and we're about to set off to the Museum of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia. Found a great place for breakfast five minutes from the hotel - had porridge, scrambled eggs, sausage and toast (and bacon and potato cake from Toni's plate). I've already tired of 'traditional' big meals here - in fact, yesterday felt a bit homesick. Here's what's happened so far:

SAT
Spent the day wandering to Stanley Park via English Bay. Fabulous sunny weather, beautiful scenery (just drank it all in) and the exercise was tempered somewhat by pulled muscles and the realisation that I hadn't broken my boots in after all. At about 2.30pm started limping back from Beaver Lake via the north-facing harbour. Had a typical Canadian/American steak dinner, but declined the dessert (skipped the starter too) - my stomach must be shrinking. Lovely - if slightly pricey - place, called Cactus Jack's.
Also walked past the Sylvie/Sylvia Hotel we plan to stay in next year with mum and dad. It's right on English Bay.

SUN
Feet still killing me, but picked up a decent pair of trainers (which I'd planned to anyway) for under $32 - around 16GBP. Day spent recovering from previous day, so watched the Philadelphia Eagles pound the New York Giants 27-6 on Fox (awful channel - ad breaks between every play). Wandered down to Gastown, and then into town for some shopping, but otherwise a quiet day. Watched too much American sports and TV, and failed to finish my single-course dinner (Xtreme burger and chips in the hotel's grill). Suspect this had something to do with my bizarre sense of homesickness, which has abated today amid the realisation I'm not ready to live somewhere else than Blighty for a while yet. Would still like the holiday home, though...
