Tonight was all about being a Blues fan. Few other fans will know the "joys" of following a team like ours. Put it like this, we scored a single goal in the past God-knows how many weeks going into this, and manage three in half an hour this evening. We turn an early 1-0 deficit into a 3-1 half-time lead. We have - going into this game - the best defence in the Premiership, but don't let that stop them letting Blackburn score two goals in the second half. Result, a 3-3 draw feels like a defeat.

There are two ways to go from here: give in to the doom and gloom (a very tempting feeling), or remember how we played for 30 minutes in the first half and put our season back on track. At least Bruce can fix defensive problems through his own nous - now it's a case of getting the balance right.

On today's performance, there were positives. Damien Johnson and Robbie Savage were at their best - I've criticised both heavily in recent weeks, but if Bruce is going to continue to pick them, that level of performance needs to be their benchmark. In particular, all three goals were scored by midfielders getting into the box, something we've lacked for far too long (Dunn also scored his first goal from open play since joining Blues - and Sav's goal was a peach; if only his late strike had crept in instead of hitting the post!). If we can marry that attacking performance with less defensive naivete (let's be honest, our midfield is as responsible as our defence for our impressive goals-against tally) then maybe there is hope this season after all.

I just wish I didn't feel so gutted...
