At last, some momentum in the move for electoral reform

I shouldn't be surprised: it's my favourite paper The Independent that is leading with this story today. Having digested news of Blair's determination to force nuclear power down our throats (now where was that in his manifesto I wonder?) yesterday, then woken up to discover that unelected cronies are put into the House of Lords and given ministerial roles to undermine Cabinet Ministers, it is clear the we must end these "elected dictatorships".

As I reported on the day of the election, Labour secured another large majority with a tiny share of the vote (21% if you take into account the 40% who couldn't be bothered), which was the lowest since 1832. Even Labour MPs are behind the calls for reform, even if the usual suspects aren't. We can but hope this system is changed before the likes of Blair ruling unopposed without even achieving a large minority vote (ie, 40% or more) become the norm.

For more on the Independent's stories, see here. In other news, The Sun reports that Mikael Forssell will be joining Blues on loan again next season. As always, I'll believe it when I see it!
