All that support the UK gave to the US in Iraq, and still Blair has no influence in Washington. Today's Independent reports on how the government is increasingly frustrated at the US's complete lack of movement on climate change (see here).
It might shock a few Americans to discover that - if they continue to stick their heads in the sand over global warming among other issues - history will not give the United States a glorious place in history. Instead it will be seen as quite the evil empire by future generations struggling to come to terms with environmental change caused by human selfishness in the late 20th and early 21st Century, fuelled by a corrupt government controlled by the oil lobby and somehow kept in power by an electorate that clearly has major problems with looking beyond their own selfish prejudices and desires.
Hmm, maybe I should call this novel The End of the Age of Oil?
