Americans still contesting global warming

(Edit: Monday. Excuse me while I try to rewrite that first sentence in something approaching English...)

I see that pratt Myron Ebell's name has come up again. This time it's in conjunction with a Republican senator's aggressive demands that three scientists to give him full disclosure of the sources of their funding for their research in the 90s. Said research concluded that the 90s was probably the warmest decade for 1,000 years (see here).

(Edit: sod it, I'm rewriting the rest of this post too)

What winds me up the most is that the BBC constantly trot over to Myron Ebell for his anti-global warming comments. While it's okay for Congressman Barton to demand three qualified scientists prove their credentials, no one at the BBC sees fit to ask themselves why they need the likes of Myron Ebell - an economist running an organisation that is notoriously anti the concept of global warming (and heartily funded by oil companies to boot) - to comment on such matters.

Global warming is a fact - it's happening now, and the idea that somehow the amount of carbon dioxide we produce has no effect on our climate is ridiculous to say the least. We cannot stop it happening now, and the only crumb of comfort I will take when it is finally irrefutably proved is the likes of Ebell and Barton having to face up to the damage they have done to our planet in return for dirty money. Sleep well tonight, boys...
