Another glimmer

According to our buyers, their financial advisor has assured them that the lenders will be instructing the survey by Monday at the latest. Our estate agent - urged on by myself - has spoken to the buyers to express our worry that this is just a stalling tactic on behalf of said financial advisor, and I will be speaking to them tonight to hopefully confirm that if no survey has been instructed by Monday then they will switch to the Halifax's own financial advisor to get the mortgage rushed through in the next couple of weeks.

Our proposed exchange date of 24th August looks extremely unlikely right now, but our sellers don't go on holiday until the 27th. By then I would hope that one way or another the survey will have been done and we'll have had time to digest its results and act on anything it might show up. At least that way they could go on holiday knowing that - while we weren't able to exchange on time - the survey has been done and its consequences known and hopefully dealt with. I will offer to contact them when exchange has taken place so they can try and enjoy what's left of their holiday when it happens.

I have already told my wife that this will be our last move for at least 10 years, circumstances permitting. I don't think I can go through this again any time soon!

Ooh, Cav and Clare - the a-ha tickets have arrived in the post. When things are less manic and up in the air, I'll contact you directly about them...
