Ho hum, another day of waiting...

... for the phone to ring, except it won't, and I'll be forced to chase up the Halifax to find out what is - or more precisely isn't - going on. I cannot believe they aren't able to contact the lender directly to find out where we stand, but so far all we have is a solitary email from this financial advisor. Our buyers rang last night and promised to chase him again this morning - I have a sudden paranoid fear that this man hasn't even submitted their application to the mortgage company yet. Four weeks ago when asked what was going on with their mortgage he'd said he was leaving it to September as there was "plenty of time". Who's to say he's still not doing that?

Even better, our second-choice house had a buyer who could end up similar to theirs - after two months of hassles with the financial advisor and mortgage, it turned out he couldn't afford their property and the whole thing collapsed. I hope to God we don't end up with the same scenario - I doubt it, as this person was a taxi driver caught out by his own tax dodge (he was basing his earnings on what he was taking home, when you can only base your earnings on the net amount you report to the Inland Revenue). But the thought sticks in the back of my mind.
