Goodness gracious me

It's an indication of how far Labour has fallen in my eyes that I'm applauding two separate Tory developments today.

1. William Hague has flown to the US to try and heal the rift between his party and George W Bush. What's refreshing is that the Shadow Foreign Secretary is not budging on his - extremely justifiable - criticism of the US's expectation from the UK. See here.

2. Dominic Grieve, Shadow Attorney General, made this comment about Blair with regards to yesterday's passing of that controversial bill:
"What is so irritating is that the Prime Minister comes along, he gets on his hobby horse, postures to the world, accuses everyone else of being soft on terrorism, gets his cheap headlines as he wants and then he leaves other people to sort out the mess."
(Substitute the word "terrorism" for any word you like, and it's still as relevant as it is in this context)

I'm still resolutely Liberal Democrat, but it's good to see the opposition is beginning to grow more teeth.
