Engerland!

And no, I don't mean the football team (good performance in a deserved 2-1 win last night), but the cricket team.

After posting a below-par 246-7 last night I was pleasantly gobsmacked this morning to discover they made 393 (Paul Collingwood hitting a fine century). India at tea are 41-1, but another boost for England: Monty Panesar has bowled an impressive two overs on his debut, with two excellent lbw appeals falling on deaf ears (the first blatant, the second less so) and a chance that had to be referred to the third umpire before it was declined on the bat, boot, catch rule (basically the ball hit the bat, then the boot, but then hit the ground before it was caught). Panesar's left-arm spin will no doubt impress RJ - couploed with Cook's 60 in the first innings it's been a good performance so far from a side decimated by absentees. Mind you, if these young guns keep this up what price Vaughan, Jones and Trescothick struggling to regain their places?
