For over 100 years the city of Birmingham has enjoyed a Saturday pink paper, published within an hour of final whistles going up and down the country, packed with the day's local sporting action. Whenever we'd gone to see Blues play - and assuming they'd drawn or even won - we'd stop off on the A38 in Birmingham, grab some fish and chips and wait for the arrival of the Argus at the local newsagent before nipping in to buy a copy and relive the afternoon's "excitement" on the journey home.
Now, thanks to the increasing erratic timing of football fixtures thanks to the ever-encroaching television schedules the Argus is to cease publication as a standalone paper - sure, it'll turn up in the Saturday and Monday Evening Mail, but it won't be the same. Another era ends...
