Shrub End is now Liberal Democrat

The council elections took place in Colchester yesterday and I did the unthinkable by voting for our Conservative councillor, but she lost to the Lib Dems anyway. Ironically while the Lib Dems won this seat they lost two neighbouring seats in Prettygate and Stanway. The Tories narrowly failed to take overall control of Colchester - they have 30 councillors to 30 opposition ones, including 21 Liberal Democrats.

I'm not sure how I feel this morning - I'm genuinely sorry our councillor didn't get in because she seemed attentive and actually got back to me on a question I posed to her about recycling plastics, but had she done so then we'd be in a Tory-run council now, and that would not have been necessarily a good thing. As things stand, the only victim of my "treachery" is my confused conscience. I can't see myself voting blue again unless Cameron comes good on these environmental promises of his...
