Hurrah for our capitalist institutions!

The British Advertising Clearance Centre bans an advert as "unfair to football" because it compares the cost of sponsoring the England football team (£49m) with the cost of sponsoring a boy (60p/day) shown to be making a football out of plastic and string (see here).

To quote Paul McGann, "Does one laugh or cry? An advert describing how 60p a day might help a child in a developing country is pulled in order to spare the image of corporate sponsorship in a couple of rich ones. You couldn’t make it up"
