Apparently Ryanair will be suing the British government if it doesn't improve security within the next seven days. Now telling you I'm not a fan of this government is like telling you that Birmingham City were relegated from the Premiership last season, but this is patently ridiculous.
I'm sure the security situation could be improved, but making threats like this (hardly surprising, coming from a company whose stock response to global warming is to launch a personal attack on the Green movement - see here, scroll down and click the "No more science fiction" link) are sadly typical of companies like Ryanair. The sad fact is that we live in dangerous times, so forgive me if I don't have any sympathy for an airline that opposes any kind of regulation on the one hand, then goes crying wolf when external factors affect its business. Perhaps if Ryanair and its ilk were paying a fair price for the fuel they gobble up and the emissions they spew directly into the atmosphere I'd feel more sympathetic. As things stand, I hope I'm not the only one who takes exception to his heavily subsidised airline suing the government - and by definition, the taxpayer.
