Three Men in A Boat
We saw Clive Francis' wonderful adaptation of Jerome K Jerome's classic novel at the Mercury last night with our friends Joe and Jo. It was a perfect evening - aside from the heat in the theatre itself. We had a very nice Chinese (meal for two once again was more than sufficient for four) with just enough time for the cheesecake before heading for the theatre. There we enjoyed Francis, Simon Ward and Neil Stacy playing the three main parts. It was hugely enjoyable, overblown and very funny - the role of the dog was played by the three characters in turn (Francis in particular did a very good impression of the dog's yap, managing to appear slightly unhinged every time he did so), and each of them also doubled up as various supporting characters in the novel. I would recommend it to anyone - and it'll be touring the UK after this run ends (see here for a list of dates and venues).
