Lest we forget

Today is Armistice Day. Whatever your thoughts on war are - and mine are very much anti-war - lets us not forget the millions who have been sacrificed, either to protect their loved ones, or on the ambition and whim of other people. My great grandfather Pink enlisted in the war in 1914 aged just 16. His father was naturally worried about him and so enlisted too - both thankfully came back alive, but Percy Pink Sr came back with his hair turned white by the horrors of what he'd seen and experienced.

Our current generation is molly coddled and blind to the realities of suffering and the privileged lives we lead. Let us hope we never have to go to war like our ancestors did - sadly, looking around me at all the hate, greed, corruption and inability to empathise with other points of view, I cannot see that ambition being realised any time soon.
