Busy week

We visited our friends Joe and Jo in Saxmundham yesterday for an excellent afternoon and evening's relaxation - just the ticket after this hectic holiday. We picked out some shows we fancy seeing in Colchester in the spring, and Toni was able to book the cheap seats for both The Goodies (well, two of 'em) and Mark "Joe Mangel" Little in March at the Mercury Theatre. The Mercury's catalogue for the next six months is packed with shows that look worth viewing - I can probably pick at least four plays from those on offer that I'd love to see, including The Hound of the Baskervilles in February. When we moved from Trowbridge last year the one amenity I missed was the Theatre Royal in Bath - we must have seen around 20 plays during our time there - but the Mercury has so far stepped into the breach admirably.

This evening we head down the A12 to Chelmsford to spend the evening with Toni's cousins, Heidi and Scott. Unfortunately Toni's a little under the weather at the moment - our nephew George is the prime suspect there, but I've luckily batted it aside so far. I do seem to be able to hit most colds into touch without too much pain, but when they do break through my defences, I get whacked for six. A bit like England's bowlers in this increasingly desperate Ashes tour...
