I don't know if this was linked to the stony wall of silence I received when I wrote to a government minister earlier this year asking him to clarify why the recyclable logo was allowed to be placed on type 5 plastics when they're not recyclable in this country, but the Independent reports here that the government is ignoring its own Freedom of Information Act.
I love the way we're all sleepwalking into this. I'd probably not object if the people at the top were taking extreme measures to tackle problems of real importance instead of cosying up to big business, big polluters and ol' Uncle Sam, but it seems to me this government isn't just corrupt, it's worse than anything that's gone before. Sure, Thatcher did irrepairable damage to working class people in the 80s and laid the foundations for what's come since, but isn't it ironic that it's a Labour government that took her work and moved it to a whole new level? And in the meantime, the dumbed-down populace is too busy consuming, working and watching Big Brother to notice what's going on around it.
