Trident

There's a fabulous piece of commentary on this subject - and the wider consequences - by Steve Richards in today's Independent (see here).

It sums up everything that's wrong with this country and government. For "subservient ministers", substitute "subservient populace". We've allowed Blair and his cronies to sleepwalk us into an authoritarian state where the government - incapable of cracking down on big business - hits out at individuals instead. Some of the utter rubbish we accept today was unthinkable on the eve of the 1997 election under a Tory government, so why the hell have we allowed Labour - and Tony Blair in particular - to drive us down this one-way path to ruin?
