100 names oppose Trident
Another example of this government's secrecy and deceit can be read on the front page of today's Independent (see
here). Why waste £65bn on another nuclear deterrant? What good will it do, apart from line the pockets of whichever defence company gets the lucrative contract? Wouldn't that £65bn be better spent on something else over that period? How about improving energy efficiency, or health, or our creaking public transport infrastructure? In short, why not spend it on something that benefits the country as a whole, not some new nuclear device that has no role in today's world where terrorists pose a greater threat than nations?
