One in the eye for nuclear power
Mankind's future involves cutting back and conserving: resources, energy, population, the lot. This planet cannot support six billion of us, never mind the billions more that will be born in to this increasingly unstable world. It certainly can't support the "golden" billion, those of us at the top of the tree whose consumption makes the Roman orgy look positively restrained.
I was pleased to see today that our rubbish and recycling wouldn't fill two bags in total. Recycling is better than just throwing away, but it's not the long-term solution, especially if all we're doing is exporting it elsewhere for someone else to deal with. This country has a £54bn trade deficit - all amassed over the past ten years of Labour (mis)rule. We produce nothing of real value any more, which is why we need to start working on that by producing our own goods to sell abroad or (better still) to sell here in place of goods being shipped from far-flung locations.
