15th March, 1907

This was a momentous day in Edward Caldicott's life - it was the day he boarded the SS Victorian to travel on his Canadian adventure, 96 years before his great grandson did likewise, albeit by a different mode of transport.

There's a lot of material about the ship he travelled on - click here, here and here for some snippets of information about this ship, whose history involved service in World War I and the ignomy of colliding with - and sinking - another ship in 1926! She ended her days in Milford Haven, where she was broken up. To see some pictures of the ship, click here.
