It's getting closer...

... the day when our family gains an extra member is approaching fast. By the end of next month - fingers crossed, touch wood and all that - we'll have our lives turned upside down by the emergence of Baby Peers. I've not blogged much about this, but it seems increasingly hard to ignore. In the past few weeks we've ramped up our preparations - we have borrowed a cot and benefited from the generosity of Toni's brother with a string of hand-me-downs, I've ordered an eco-friendly mattress and other green goods, and we're gearing up to decorate the baby's room this weekend. Naturally we're feeling a mixture of excitement and apprehension - we're aware our lives will change forever, which is probably why we've waited so long! That and the fact we're now living within an hour of either set of parents...

In other news, yours truly got through another hour's worth of football last night. Despite a poor performance - especially in the first half - I managed to score a hat trick and provide some assists. The only goal of note was my second, cutting inside from the left and then placing a side-footed shot into the net from a tight-ish angle. However impressive that was, it was completely undone by a string of misses, culminating in my side-footing over the bar from less than a yard out in the final minute. Thankfully we held on to win by a single goal, so it didn't prove too costly...
