Johann Hari blows the myth that electing Barack Obama will somehow turn America on its head with his Independent column here. Basically, the only candidate who would make a real difference is the white southerner, John Edwards. As Hari points out, though, without big business backing him, he's dead in the water already. Good to see democracy in such rude health - no wonder I've gone right off it in recent years...
