Sat nav madness

Another example of our ever-increasing dependency on technology is found in the growth of satellite navigation devices. Well, surprise surprise, people who become solely dependent on them are causing chaos, disruption and higher costs for everyone else (see here). Somerset County Council's request for satellite navigation makers to stop routing traffic through rural villages should become a requirement - then perhaps drivers (particularly those with heavy goods vehicles) wouldn't thunder through the middle of towns or find themselves causing millions of pounds worth of damage to bridges that ultimately someone else has to pay for.

Read this weeks local paper for Sudbury. It tells of a doudle lorry and trailor stuck in the town centre , the driver having only one word of English 'Dover, Dover'. Chaos reigned while this huge monster of a truck was backed out through the narrow one way streets
