Ouch!

At 5.10pm last night we were all ready for me to cook a quick tea then head to Bath for a theatre performance (Arsenic and Old Lace). At 5.20pm I was on my back halfway down the stairs having slipped at the top, two painful bounces on my back and I was winded, gasping for breath.

Theatre was cancelled - we've managed to swap our tickets for Friday's performance instead, but I also had to cancel a planned trip to London for a meeting. There goes 50 squids down the train - er, drain (thank God I only bought the outward single up front!).

Luckily I appear to have got away with bruising in the chest area. I can breathe freely, so no punctured lung, and there's no evidence of any damage to my kidneys. Slept poorly last night as you'd expect - my back seized up, but thankfully relaxed when I put a microwaveable pad on it. I feel like a fraud, though, but then again - better to feel like that than to find myself in hospital with more serious damage!

I still don't know if it was the cat, my old slippers (subsequently binned) or a combination of both. After all, it couldn't be me, could it?
