Getting older

As you age, you realise several childhood dreams must end. Gone are the days when I might have become a professional footballer, and it's too late for cricket now as well. However, as sports fade, so the allure of the small and silver screen become more appealing.

Right now I'm still too young to consider the likes of Bond, Sherlock Holmes and possibly even Doctor Who (even though the new Doctor, David Ternant, is but 18 months older than my good self). I've probably even got five years before I'm ready for Batman. As for Highlander, mid-30s is best to start, because you tend to have done enough ageing by that point so as to mask the passage of time that supposedly doesn't affect the character you play.

That leaves Superman - 32 is probably the latest you can get away with playing it - and Spiderman. As Peter Parker is supposedly a student, it seems I must reluctantly put away the spidey gear and stop attempting to climb walls. Which is a relief, as my back was killing me...
